Eric Doggett, Austin, Texas

Unlike most other photographers, Eric Doggett didn’t start shooting when he was 3. In fact, it was at the age of 33 in 2005 when he started learning about photography. What began as an interesting hobby rapidly turned into a mission to learn everything he could about creating digital images.
He got his start photographing weddings and families, and then last year began expanding into commercial work. “What I love most about commercial photography,” Eric says, “is the opportunity to explore ideas in my mind and on paper, and then see how close I can get to what I envisioned. And if I can find a way to work some humor into a shoot, even if it’s just for me, I do it.”
In addition to his photography work, Eric also started the Austin Photogs group. This group, with over 250 members, meets every month over drinks or dinner to network and discuss all of the issues related to professional photography. Eric is also a photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep , which provides portrait services for families that endure the loss of a baby during delivery or shortly thereafter.
